Prof. Debra Bernhardt is a Group Leader and Professor in the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences at The University of Queensland. She received her PhD from the University of Newcastle, Australia, and held postdoctoral positions at The University of Basel, Australian National University and The University of Queensland. From 2009 -2012 she was Director of the Queensland Micro- and Nanotechnology Centre at Griffith University. Since 2013 she has been Director of the AIBN Centre for Theoretical and Computational Molecular Sciences at The University of Queensland.
Prof. Bernhardt publishes under her maiden name, Searles. She has made many contributions to theoretical and computational molecular and materials science, and especially the statistical physics of nonequilibrium fluids including the development of fluctuation theorems for nonequilibrium fluids and nonequilibrium response theory. She has published 140+ peer-reviewed international journal articles has given many invited and plenary talks at international conferences.
She is a Regional Editor for Molecular Simulation and Associate Editor for Frontiers in Chemistry: Theoretical and Computational Chemistry and has been part of the organising committee of many national and international conferences.
